Home to Type 1 Electric Car Charging cable

The one essential cable that every Nissan Leaf, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Nissan NV200 SE Van,Toyota Prius or Vauxhall Ampera needs to enable safe and secure charging from any UK socket. This is the Get Me Home cable. The EV industry calls these Mode 2 portable EVSE or Electric Vehicle Service Equipment. We call them Home Chargers.

The Leaf, Outlander and most other Electric Cars use a standard Type 1 in car connector.

13 Amp Socket Mode 2 charging

This 13 Amp Socket – Type 1 Cable permits 10Amps of charge to safely flow into the vehicle.

Cable is 5m long and available in Black. (We used to offer an Orange cable – however most cables end up on the ground between the car and charging point and soon get dirty. Orange cables show the grime far more than black cables, so we now only offer this type of coiled cable in Black)

Type 1 is the cable connecting fitted to most European, Japanese and American Electric Cars including the best selling Nissan Leaf and Van, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Renault, Zoe, Fluence and Kangoo, Toyota Prius Plug-in, Vauxhall Ampera.

 

Tesla and the German EV manufactures including the BMW i3, i8, VW e-Golf, Audi A3 e-Tron, Porsche Panamera PHEV use a different system and need a Home to Type 2 cable.

 

Our cables are 5 M in length and available in Black. They are rated for up to 16 Amps of current and will work safely with UK 13 Amp sockets.

Automatic resumption of the charging process
For normal EV Charging Box, it is switched off after an error or power failure and must be reactivated manually. Therefore, when overnight charging is planned, the battery could still be empty the following morning.

But this is not the case with the EV-PCD019. The EV-PCD019 permanently tests the infrastructure-related voltage. If there is still any current at the wall socket, the EV-PCD019 initiates a test sequence, establishes communication with the vehicle and ensures a safe recharging of the vehicle battery.

Comprehensive protection system

We designed all kinds of protective measures for EV-PCD019: Over-current protection, Over-voltage protection, Lightning protection, Electric leakage protection, and Short circuit protection. This is a deceive which can ensure the safety using for everyone.

Detecting faulty wiring

The intelligent EV-PCD019 also detects faulty wiring of the infrastructure-side socket and, in addition, controls the incoming protective conductor before charging begins.

Slender, practical and robust
Thanks to the new enclosure format, the charging cable with integrated EV-PCD019 can be easily and compactly rolled up, since both bushes are fed out of the enclosure at an angle. Thus the charging cable requires less storage space.
The stable enclosure can be driven over by a car just like the charging connector and passes the test with a wheel load of 500kg. In practice the enclosure is exposed to more intensive environmental influences than plugs and connectors.
These cables are designed to survive in a robust environment and can happily lie on the ground, covered in dirt, or even to be left in a puddle and operate flawlessly.
