Tesla UK Prices May 1st 2026

No change in the UK market – Pricing static.

Tesla UK is offering some great 0% finance offers of PCP and HP with monthly prices starting at just £249.

The New Model Y RWD launched in December for  £41,990 with PCP of just £299 / month. Sweet deal.

New lower cost versions now call Standard while other models now called Premium.

Model Y Standard - What is it?

The Standard version of the Model Y is a lower cost car than the so called Premium Y. The body is the same.

At first glance, not much. It looks the same, feels like a Tesla, and still delivers that smooth EV driving experience. But dig a little deeper, and there are some meaningful differences — especially if you’re weighing up value vs experience.

The differences are:

In real-world UK driving, the standard version is perfectly usable. But if you do regular long motorway runs, that extra range buffer in the Long Range is noticeable — especially in winter.

Acceleration-wise, the standard car is fine, but it doesn’t have that “Tesla punch” people often expect.

Trim

  • The standard model feels slightly more basic
  • You miss some of the subtle “premium” touches. Cloth seats rather than the ‘leather’. No glass sunroof.

It’s still minimalist and clean — but side-by-side, the higher models feel a bit more refined.

Battery Type (LFP vs NCA/NCM)

This is a more technical one, but actually quite important.

  • Standard Model Y uses an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery
  • Long Range / Performance use Nickel-based batteries

What this means in practice:

Pros of Standard (LFP):

  • Can charge to 100% regularly without degradation concerns
  • Potentially longer lifespan
  • More stable chemistry

Cons:

  • Slightly less energy dense → less range
  • Weaker performance in very cold weather

So… Is the Standard Model Y Worth It?

Honestly — yes.

After driving it, my takeaway is this:

The standard Model Y gives you 90% of the Tesla experience for noticeably less money.

You’re mainly giving up:

  • Acceleration
  • Premium audio
  • Extra range
  • AWD capability

But you still get:

  • The full Tesla software experience
  • Supercharger access
  • Great practicality
  • Clean, modern design
