Solar Production Jan 2025

Just 17 kWh Produced in Jan 2025 - Dismal cloud cover

dec 2024 solar production

January 2025 – What another grey month it was with hardly any sun shine. The Solar Edge system produced just 17.6kWh compared with 18 last year. Another dismal month.

The month suffered from days of Dunkelflaute, a German term that roughly translates to a “dark wind lull” or “dark doldrums”. It describes a situation where there’s minimal sunshine and wind for extended periods – meteorologists also refer to this as anticyclonic gloom. On the bigger picture for the UK this meant that our wind turbines were hardly spinning.

Data from the Energy Dashboard shows Solar Production for the month Some days 0.05GW and some just above 0 GW with combined output for the month of 0.3 GWh. Gas, by comparison produced 10 GWh.
