Solar PV Production Oct 2024

125 kWh Produced in October 2024 with just 21 kWh exported

oct 2024 solar production

October 2024 – What a grey month with hardly any sun shine. The Solar Edge system produced just 125 kWh compared with 231 during October 2023 or just 54% of last year. Dismal month.

The month suffered from days of Dunkelflaute, a German term that roughly translates to a “dark wind lull” or “dark doldrums”. It describes a situation where there’s minimal sunshine and wind for extended periods – meteorologists also refer to this as anticyclonic gloom. On the bigger picture for the UK this meant that our wind turbines were hardly spinning.

Data from ther Energy Dashboard shows how the wind production varies. See chart below. Some days wind produces 20GW and some just 2GW with combined output for the month of 9.5 GWh. Gas, by comparison produced 8.9 GWh.
